“All living things possess this incredible ability to heal…” Mikao Usui

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing.  In fact, the immediate response to a Reiki treatment is, “I feel so relaxed!!”  Now that’s a wonderful gift to us all as we navigate our high stress world.   Stress relief AND healing.

Bringing the physical body to a place of relaxation then allows the body to heal itself which is what it really wants to do.  This healing occurs remarkably on many levels. Reiki works with healing the observable manifestations of an injury or issue, and it goes to the source of the problem which can be at deeper levels.  We are holistic beings and Reiki healing affects all those parts of who we are–our physical body as well as our mental, emotional, and spiritual state of being.

Reiki works because it is based on the energy frequencies of our body which show up once again on every level of the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.  The treatment protocols work with the body chi also known as the unseen life force energy flowing through us that causes us to be alive.  If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Found in hospitals, wellness centers, and throughout western and complementary healthcare systems, Reiki is widely used as a healing modality whose popularity has grown in leaps and bounds. It is one of the many Energy Medicine treatments that are an alternative and a compliment with any other medical or therapeutic modalities.  Barely heard of 15 years ago, it is now featured on TV shows such as Dr. Oz, and The Doctors being presented as a valuable and legitimate healing technique.  Beyond the many benefits of relaxation, Reiki can measurably relieve both pre and post surgery concerns, relieve side effects from surgery or pharmaceuticals, and promote recovery from injury or surgery.  You may see Reiki Practitioners available in chiropractic and medical doctor offices, in operating and recovery rooms, wellness retreat centers, and in private practices.

Reiki has been around for hundreds of years in healing work throughout the world as a resource for any malady whether emotional, physical, or spiritual.  The public and professional interest creates a need for educated Reiki practitioners to fill the gaps for medical assistance at every age level in every culture around the world.  Consider taking a class and learning more about how it works and how you can apply the healing energy to yourself for your own needs and to give the healing gift to family, friends, your pets, and any living thing you wish to help.
